The National Council on Social Welfare of Thailand, the United Way partner in Thailand, is a non-profit organization, founded in 1960 to serve as the coordinating center on social welfare and social development among government and private organizations. The Council comprises of member organizations engaging in social welfare services, social development, and social problems. As of January, 2015, National Council on Social Welfare of Thailand has 964 member organizations (835 ordinary members and 129 associate members). As the national coordinating body for non – governmental social welfare organizations in the country, Council is affiliated to the International Council on Social Welfare (ICSW) currently based in the Utrecht, the Netherlands. National Council on Social Welfare of Thailand has the objectives of facilitating in the education of the principles of sharing, caring, and “People Helping People,” providing information to communities on social welfare problems and solution efforts, obtaining community support and aid for fundraising campaigns and allocating of funds to member organizations and other social welfare organizations.
